Whenever upgrading the bathroom, showerhead replacement is the first thing that comes to mind. It is, after all, a "bath" room. Waterfall showers are among the luxury additions to bathrooms and now much more easily available. Waterfall showerheads have increased in popularity with the demand of luxury bathrooms, particularly in hotels and for domestic bathrooms.

So, what is a waterfall shower? Waterfall showerheads, also called rain showerheads are showerheads that give a steady water stream identical to that delivered by a natural waterfall. These shower heads are large and provide a steady stream falling vertically down from a horizontal head.

Waterfall Shower Head Types:

All waterfall showerheads have similar features except mounting and some difference in functions.

  1. Wall-mounted or ceiling-mounted waterfall showerheads
  2. Wall mounted showerheads have all the plumbing in the wall, like in any other showerheads. Ceiling-mounted showerheads are different in this respect. They are mounted to the ceiling with the plumbing done in the roof. This is a lengthier and roe costly installation than the normal. They both however, give the similar waterfall effect. In wall-mounted showerhead, the extended overhead shower arm which extends 12 to 16 inches from the wall and can be higher than usual showerheads, will give the same experience.

  3. Single or multi-function waterfall showerhead
  4. In multi-function showerheads, you can adjust the spray of the water in different ways but cannot do so in single-function showerheads. In case of waterfall showerheads, it depends on whether it is wall or ceiling-mounted. In ceiling-mounted showerheads, it is impossible to reach the showerhead to change the setting so single-function showerheads are available. Wall-mounted showerheads can have more than one function as they are relatively lower.

Waterfall Shower Head Features:

Like in any typical shower, the waterfall showerheads have the following features:

  1. Showerhead
  2. The showerhead is the part of the shower that releases the water. It is perforated with holes to allow the water to flow. Waterfall showerheads will be horizontal to give the effect of a waterfall.

  3. Tap
  4. The tap will control the flow of the water.
In addition to this, if you have a traditional shower system with waterfall showerhead, you will have a shower-panel to allow you to control the spray and other features. These showerheads have all-in-one shower panels that you can use to alter the volume and frequency of the spray. Such showerheads can also include features like chromatherapy or steam features.
These showerheads come in different styles and designs. The design of the showerhead plays a part in aesthetics. Some such waterfall showerheads are given below.
