Oil-rubbed bronze gives Aurelia its strongest heritage character, but the underlying construction is decidedly conventional and serviceable. BathSelect specifies solid brass, a ceramic-disc cartridge, separate hot and cold handles, three-hole deck mounting, and 1.2–1.5 GPM at 60 PSI. BathSelect That combination matters because an aged-looking surface should not imply dated internal hardware. The darker bronze also gives the column geometry more visual weight, making it particularly suitable for warm stone, timber cabinetry, or transitional interiors. I would resist trying to match every accessory perfectly; slight tonal variation among bronze elements can look more natural than forced uniformity. Mechanically familiar underneath and visually traditional above the counter, this version bridges old and new convincingly.

Library Character Preserved

Renovating washrooms inside a historic library required fixtures that wouldn't visually compete with the building's traditional interior vocabulary. The bronze Aurelia has enough contemporary discipline to keep the rooms current while its darker finish relates naturally to existing door and lighting hardware. Preservation representatives approved the installed sample before the project proceeded. Public use since reopening has confirmed that the design decision didn't compromise practicality. The completed rooms feel refreshed rather than stylistically disconnected from the rest of the building.
